A disgraceful looking Catholic Cathedral.

What is it? Some say that it looks like the wing on the rear of an airplane. Others call it an office building. Maybe it is a Christian apartment block! Or how about a Christian hotel with its sheltered entrance? Whatever it is, it is difficult to determine.

In this modern age when everyone says, "Think green" or "Stop wasting," this structure was very generous in wasting construction material. Extremely large covered shelters at the entrance, such looking like the wing of an airplane, are things of the past. We now have an invention called "umbrella" in case it rains.

And the top wall of the building that looks like an extremely large rear wing of an airplane is another example of extreme waste of construction material. It is ugly and it is wasteful!

They say this building is the future Catholic Cathedral of Saskatoon. A Cathedral should be the pride of its city. This building, far from the appearance of a Cathedral, is nothing but a disgraceful looking structure.

This ugly structure is the legacy that Bishop Albert LeGatt left us before he departed from Saskatoon for his new appointment in Winnipeg on July 3, 2009. Obviously he supported this weird looking building since he approved its construction.

As sad as it is to say, many refused to financially support the construction of this building and they are happy that Bishop LeGatt has been transferred.

Saskatoon is a city where, on many occasions, you can tell which priest is celebrating a Mass by the words that are spoken. Under the reign of Bishop LeGatt, many priests catered the Catholic Mass according to their own whims. This liturgical abuse was permitted to continue without reproach because the leadership of a good shepherd was not there when needed. The same can be said about the mockery of the Catholic Church through the construction of an ugly structure to replace the present Cathedral.

This liberal Protestant style of a church is a perfect example as to where the Catholic Church of Saskatoon is heading. It is departing from the Catholic tradition in its structures and its liturgy. It is only a matter of time before the traditional Catholic Church will no longer be recognizable.
